Beach Beat are proud to have been at the forefront of the UK surfboard market since 1985. With the development of our NEW ‘core’ shop, the WORLD’S FIRST in-store shaper, the ‘Beach Beat On Line Shop’ and another WORLD’S FIRST, the Board Room “Shapes Cam” we are most definitely leading the charge for customer interaction and satisfaction, not only in the UK, but globally.

The Aggie Surf Shop - The ‘core’ shop, St Agnes, Cornwall

In September ‘05 Aggie Surf Shop/Beach Beat expanded into new premises (across the road from the original ‘Aggie Surf Shop’!). The new ‘Core’ Shop board room means we can have over 100 surfboards in stock, together with a wide range of the best wetsuits and surf hardware on the market. Not to mention the stylish and practical clothing!


The In-store Shaper

The Board Room is run in conjunction with the WORLD FIRST ‘in-store shaper’, the world renowned Chops Lascelles. At Beach Beat, we have embraced the technology currently available and our two 42” Plasma screens show off the future of surfboard shaping; a CAD design program. This program allows the surfer to have a consultation with Chops, to discuss their surfing ability, what they want from a surfboard, how they surf and what will be best the best for their needs. Then the shaping program allows Chops, the shaper to design a surfboard on screen creating the ‘perfect surfboard’ for the surfer’s ability, style and point in their exploration of surfing. The shaping program allows the design from the shaper to be saved in a file for each individual surfer with all the technical specifications. These spec’s include:

• the template
• volume in litres
• width
• thickness
• length over curve
• straight line length
• machine parameters
• fin positions
• bottom curve
• deck curve
• concave
• Vee
• rail shape at any given point
• blanks to cut from
• And many more…

Never before has the surfer been able to have such an in-depth, instant, view of their surfboard design and input into the development of the shapes they ride. The beauty of the shape file is that it can be called upon at any time, from anywhere in the world, so if the surfer snaps their ‘perfect surfboard’, when travelling, they can contact Chops, he can email their design to the nearest shaping machine anywhere in the world and a replacement surfboard can be shaped ASAP. This innovative ‘in store shaping’ method gives any individual an ideal opportunity to get the best surfboard for their ability, made to the highest quality which is then kept on file, for ever. This file can be tweaked and refined as the surfer develops. The surfer/shaper relationship has never been so progressive.


The Beach Beat Online shop

Our online shop displays all the surfboards that we have in stock. When fully stocked we hold over 100 boards ranging from Chops’ cutting edge thrusters and fish’s to retro models and his finest longboards (with a huge variety in between!). The online shop also includes all top hardware in stock, including wetsuits, softracks, wax, ding repair, resin and tide clocks. We endeavour to stock the specialised products a surfer needs as well as the day to day surf hardware items. We also stock the most stylish fashion available, along with our own, world famous, Aggie Surf Shop and Beach Beat Clothing.


The Board Room & Shapes Cam’

Another revolutionary step forward that Beach Beat has made is the Board room ‘Shapes Cam’ - a WORLD FIRST. This innovative idea makes it even easier for people to find the best surfboard to match their surfing ability and help their progression in whatever style or path they choose. When online, anyone can connect to our Board Room Shapes Cam’ and view the extensive range of surfboards we have in the Board Room (there are even more crammed in behind the camera!). The next stage is to get the phone and dial the number on the web cam page. One of the Beach Beat crew in the shop will be happy to discuss any of the shapes helping with expert advice and knowledge to find the best board for the surfers ability and requirements. Our personal service and surfing knowledge means that the customer can get the best board for them and there for they will achieve maximum fun whilst surfing. Chops Lascelles

As Chops has matured, his shaping has evolved. From the CORD longboards he was shaping as a youth to the cutting edge thrusters that numerous rippers ride today. The shortboard revolution was part of his life as is the shaping machine era. Chops has embraced the technology involved in the future of shaping and because of this every Aggie Surf Shop customer and Beach Beat team rider is surfing faster, harder and having more fun than ever before!
