First Board for a snowboard instuctor...

Date: May 04, 2008 03:15PM Hi Guys,
I have a couple of weeks and weekends surfing on rentals in Newquay. I can skateboard and windsurf, am a snowboard instructor, and about to try wakeboarding, so i love my board sports. I'm usually given customs of around 7,10 by the rentals, but struggle to duck dive them. I'm looking for something that i can duck dive, but also catch as many waves as i can on. Riding waves is the priority though. I'm looking to do around 3-4 weeks a year, and around a weekend a month in Newquay, Bournemouth or Polezeth. Is it worth getting my own surfboard? I'm loving it so far, but think i could be missing out on the experience by riding on rentals? I have a very low view of rental snowboards - while easier to ride for most, you progress so much faster on your own, decent kit. Is this the same for surfing? I'm 6,2" and 12,5 stone. I'm used to having my feet strapped to the board before getting up, so I don't stuggle with riding along the wave as long as my feet are in the right place first time when i jump up. I'm guessing a Fatboy Flyer would be suitable, but what length?
