Meet Jason who rides a 6'2" x 18 3/4" x 2 1/4" Summer Sting Surfboard
Stage 1 Once the surfboard blank is shaped it goes off to spray room if colours been ordered, to be sprayed by Jason.
Stage 2.Here Jason's applying a black outline on the deck for the main design. The design is then taped up to allow over spray.
Stage 3. Jason now starts to add the base coat of red paint.
Stage 4. Jason is now applying the pin line. You can see from the pictures that although only a thin line is being applied, this still means masking up the entire surfboard to avoid over spray.
Stage 5. Jason adding the detail to the main design. Here' s a tip from Jason, when ordering a custom board, be very specific about colour and design unless you're really not bothered. This can be a pain staking process especially for custom and intricate designs.
Stage 6. The board can then be passed to the next stage. We're forever getting surfboard orders from people (and shops) that say they'll leave the paint job up to us and then they complain that they don't like it. In other words, Jason's an artist not a mind reader so try and give him a clue!
